We are a friendly group. Our humble leaders have been volunteering in the community for many years, and they bring with them the ability to lead, inspire and to care for the needy without condescension or hidden agendas.
With over 30 years of volunteer experience among them, our leaders provide Spiritual Direction Ministries with the inspiration and direction to keep it going and growing.

Dorothy Jean James, Spiritual Director
Founder and CEO
Bio: Dorothy Jean James has served as a Spiritual Director for many years. Caring for souls is nothing new for her. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, she moved to Marina del Rey in the late 90s and, having witnessed the negligence and despair within our own communities, founded Spiritual Direction Ministries to answer the call for "change" in the world. She loves people and loves meeting new people and has a particular affinity for teaching, healing arts, and alternative therapies and counseling.

Valerie Poindexter-Curry
Co-Founder and CFO
Bio: Valerie Poindexter-Curry started her work in the area of spirituality at an early age. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, she moved to Los Angeles in the late 70s. She is the co-founder of Spiritual Direction Ministries, an answer to the call for "change" in the world. She loves meeting new people and has a particular affinity for mentoring single parents.

Bianca Poindexter, Esq.
Secretary & Board Member
Bio: Bianca is a passionate lawyer, writer and humanitarian who desires to leave an imprint on the world while pursuing her spiritual journey. She has practiced corporate law for nine years and desires to grow her legal ministry to provide philanthropic services for the community-at-large. A Californian most of her life by way of Michigan, she attended the University of California, Los Angeles and Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. Her plan is to publish novels that touch the hearts of many, changing the world one word at the time. Spiritual Direction Ministries (SDM) has strengthened and deepened her spiritual walk. She enjoys serving as the Editor for SDM's quarterly Newsletter "The Inner Path."
